Marco Island Waterways
The first seawalls were constructed in units 1 and 4, and the tip of Caxambas Road. Some of the first seawalls were constructed in wood with whaler tieback systems. They soon converted to cement reinforced with a mixture of wire mesh and steel rods. The cement slabs were 4 to 5 inches thick and 10 to 12 feet in height. Along the river and Caxambas Road, where severe tidal conditions existed, Deltona used T-piles.
